Buy Organic, or Not?

by February 2, 2010 » Add the first comment.

There is no doubt that buying organic is more expensive. But what foods are essential to purchase organically to limit your pesticide exposure? Washing your food does remove bacteria and dirt, but does not remove the harmful pesticides found on many of today’s conventionally grown, and non-organic, fruits and vegetables.. In her book, To Buy Organic Or Not, by Cindy Burke lists twelve foods she calls, The Dirty Dozen, which should always be eaten organically:

1)      Strawberries: These are one of the most chemically intensive crops and have the highest level of pesticides than any another fruit or vegetable.
